Hello and Welcome to Day Two of Warcraft Radio’s Coverage of the Race to World First: Sanctum of Domination! My name is MrMiles from It’s Always Sunny in Stormwind, and I’m back to talk about the exciting highlights of Day Two of the Race to World First – Sanctum of Domination!

The entry of the EU guilds caused a storm that threatened to wrestle control of the leaderboard from North America. Complexity Limit ended day one with an impressive 5 kill count lead, but that gap has now been completely closed by Echo’s quick pace through the first 5 bosses with two more EU guilds and 1 NA guild close behind.

The current standings are as follows:

Day two began with EU servers coming online 10 minutes earlier than yesterday’s NA servers. Players were chomping at the bit to get online and travelled en masse to Korthia in attempts to cash in on maxing out renown levels. Locked behind this week’s renown levels were rows in two different soulbinds that gave endurance or finesse options. The guilds farmed Torghast for Soul Cinders to upgrade legendaries and the Adamant Vaults for a chance at the powerful Shards of Domination. Mythic Keystone and catchup chores helped shore up the power of the roster before taking the fight to the raid itself.

Echo took the first EU kill on The Tarragrue followed by Exposed and Pieces claiming second and third spots respectively on the European scoreboard. Echo then went on to claim First EU Kill for both Eye of the Jailer and The Nine; whereas, Aversion took Second and Pieces again came in Third.

Nearly two and a half hours after servers went live, Method entered the Sanctum after capping out as much renown as possible. Perhaps learning from Soniqs Imperative, the team decided to invest time into raid prep for maximum efficiency by doing off-raid chores; and, preparing for bosses beyond the first three. While they had a slow start to clearing the first three bosses, their attitude of Go Big or Go Home seems to have paid off as the team rose quickly through the ranks, and they are in 3rd Place Overall at the time of this recording.

Echo, Aversion, and Pieces cleared The Nine to advance to a fourth boss. While Echo and Aversion decided to first go for Remnant of Ner’Zhul, Pieces opted to try their luck on Soulrender Dormazain. After 30 attempts, Echo claimed World Second against Remnant. Pieces followed 3 hours after to take World Third Kill on Dormazain, securing the kill after 40 pulls. Aversion remains haunted by the Remnant.

With their World Second kill on Remnant, Echo succeeded in displacing a handful of guilds that were stuck on Remnant or Soulrender. They then went on to defeat Soulrender in 30 attempts and with that began threatening Limit for the top spot.

Painsmith Raznal is proving to be every bit the exacting fight it was feared to be. The battle against the cruel master of traps requires precise mechanical execution in the deathtrap of an arena and strict dps requirements. At this stage in the race, losing even as few as 3 people before the transition phase is putting the two competing teams at an apparently insurmountable disadvantage.

At the current time, Echo has brought Raznal to 38.46% on their best attempt, just barely surpassing Limit’s best pull of 38.67%. The excitement on streams is palpable as we yet again have a neck-and-neck race! Both contenders are pulling in high burst to handle the Shadowsteel Ember adds and Spiked Balls; both teams are utilizing parkour movement abilities to jump outside the arena and then disengage around spiked and flaming death traps; and, both teams are bringing as many damage reduction cooldowns they can fit to overcome this fight; yet it still may not be enough. We believe Limit has race-changed a number of players to Goblins, for the added rocket mobility. Additionally, at the time of this video, Limit has chosen to stop attempting to kill what we’re affectionately calling “Death Marbles,” and they are instead trying to dodge every set. Will these tactics lead to Limit forging ahead, or will Echo fully overtake the reigning champions tomorrow morning?

Tomorrow looks to be even more exciting as the Asian Pacific Region comes into play! The power house, Team Aster is the conglomeration of Alpha, JTH and Skyline. Such a team is likely to make waves tomorrow, and may even pull in to the top 10 in short order. While many of the guilds are viewable on Twitch, Team Aster and other Asian guilds are expected to be found on the Chinese HuYa platform if you are interested in watching them live.
