The Race to World First Ends but has the triumph of one team been overshadowed by the struggles of the community? There is a lot of news on all fronts as Jared and Manny speak on Season 4, 9.2.5, and so much more!

9.2.5 PTR

The next patch has hit the PTR. There are a few things we were expecting but a few surprises have been discovered as well.

Cross-faction gameplay

  • Players are now able to directly invite members of the opposite faction to a party. You need a BattleTag or Real ID friendship or be a member of a cross-faction WoW Community.
  • Premade Groups in the Group Finder listings for Mythic dungeons, raids, or rated arena/RBGs are now open to applicants of both factions, though the group leader may choose to restrict the listing to same-faction applicants if they so choose.
  • WoW Communities now have the option to be cross-faction. Guilds will remain single-faction.
  • Random matchmade activities like Heroic dungeons, Skirmishes, or Random Battlegrounds will all remain same-faction. [LEARN MORE 86]
  • The following instances are not cross-faction:
  • Trial of the Champion
  • Trial of the Crusader
  • Vault of Archavon
  • Icecrown Citadel
  • Baradin Hold
  • Siege of Boralus
  • Battle of Dazar’alor
  • Darkmaul Citadel (Exile’s Reach dungeon)

Accessibility Options added

  • All search filter dropdowns now have a button that lets you easily remove all active filters.
  • The default hand cursor now has new, higher-resolution art for its larger sizes under Interface Options > Accessibility.
  • The Report Player pane has been redesigned, with new categories added. (Available in a later PTR build)

RWF in 9.2

As of recording, Echo has secured the first kill of the Lords of Dread, putting us officially into the final two bosses of the tier for the race.

Live Game Improvements

Despite so much over the horizon, there are several developments in the live game.

  • Mage Tower returning permanently on March 29th
  • Ruined Crest of Lordaeron back on the loot table of Lords of Dread with new models.
  • Accessibility Options:
    • Unit Frame Mouseover Cast
    • Click Cast Bindings
    • Cursor Scaling
    • Controller Support
    • Text to Speech Updates
    • Additional Chat Commands
  • Class Tuning:
    • Protection Warrior
    • Destruction Warlock
    • Elemental Shaman
    • Outlaw Rogue
    • Mistweaver Monk
    • Beast Mastery Hunter
    • Feral Druid
    • Unholy Death Knight
    • Additionally, we’re not planning on nerfing any over-performing specializations with this week’s pass, as we want to gather more data and provide more advance notice.

The Race that broke the Community

There have been criticisms levied about the difficulty of SFO. One thing commonly pointed out is the length of this raid’s RWF.

  • The Jailer is Defeated by Echo just before we started recording this episode.
  • 277 pulls, 18 days
  • Liquid announced shortly after Echo’s 5PM EDT 0.6% wipe that they were going to conclude their attempts.
  • The team would be flying home and resuming attempts on Monday after resting up
