BWTL : A Long & Storied History

In the Beginning…

But Wait! There’s Lore! Premiered on the original Warcraft Radio in 2008 around the time of the Wrath of the Lich King expansion. A group of lore experts from the Scrolls of Lore forums got together and created a rotating cast of contributors. Later in the season two primary hosts were chosen to lead the show, Pride & Omacron. Together they built a strong foundation and following until Omacrons departure from the show leading in to Season 2.

The second season of the show saw Pride return with new primary host Snapplemonkey and a rotating list of support hosts. Season 2 saw continued growth and success overall but came to an end with the closure of Warcraft Radio in 2010.

Moving Forward…

Season 3 and 4 found a new home with Nordrassil Radio and the OMFGCata Youtube channel where the cast grew larger with new personalities such as Luna, Sarah, and Dane. The Episodes were released both as podcasts and as youtube videos coinciding with the Cataclysm and Mists of Pandaria expansions. These seasons catapulted the show into new heights of listenership ultimately leading to the biggest change the show would have in its first 10 year run.

A Visual Component…

During seasons 5, 6, and 7 of the show saw the show switch from podcast to web series as Pride was joined by a brand new cast featuring Dunn, Howitzer, and Necroxis. This group would remain the core group of hosts through all 3 of these seasons. Ultimately, and unfortunately the group had serious disagreements on the direction of the show during season 7 cutting it short and seeing the start of a long haitus.

And More Recently…

Season 8 saw a short run of episodes retaining the web series format where Pride was joined by Jesse O’Connor of the Lost Codex and Shanyn of Blizznerds to bring in the new Battle for Azeroth expansion. Due to other commitments and outside circumstances only a few episodes were able to be produced for this season before the series was once again put on an indefinite hiatus.

Finally, in the current season, season 9, Pride is once again joined by Shanyn, and new host Impervium whom has worked with Pride on several other projects has returned to the podcast format to reduce the workload and allow for after severals years, a true and proper season of But Wait! There’s Lore! to return to the shows original home — Warcraft Radio!
